Lessons from the super rich

The past few days have been an interesting combination of feelings:

*Clarity: I am moving on with my life regardless of where the ex stands.
*Lack of inspiration: OMG I need to finish my presentation!!
*Zen: I am in the moment, feeling grounded and present.

Stating my lack of inspiration to my friend Andrea P. she suggested I read Russell Simmons' book,
Super Rich: A Guide to Having it All.  20 minutes and $17.99 later, I was the proud owner of the audiobook version.  At first listen, I thought this was a guide to unlocking Hip Hop's ways to fortune ( who does not want to be Jay Z rich?!) but soon I realized that along with some valuable business lessons, Russell's message was one of inspiration and hope.  While one's relationships at times defines how we feel, the essence of who we are as people is limitless even in the face of adversity, heartache and defeit.
Russell also mentions the power of smiling and being happy even if inside you are not 100 percent there.

With that in mind, I went to a show last night, got my ass up early this morning, got to MMA Bootcamp, hiked and smiled today.  Results were great, generated some interest for my next gig, got a text from an ex from 10 years ago checking on me and did finish that presentation...Finally!!.... This was a good reminder not to loose myself in things I can't control.  To take care of me and let the universe take care of everything else.

Special thanks to Lauren for support and chat, Bridget Blond for reminding me how much I rock, Zel for check ups, Becky for presentation outline and Mark for copy!

On a final note, check out this article on why heartbreak hurts from a scientific point of view.  Very interesting...http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adoree-durayappah-mapp-mba/breakups_b_825613.html
